OAESA Hall of Fame School
Unified efforts were consistently focused on four components:
• Building Climate
Daily procedure included our school motto, the Pledge, and words of wisdom. Character education promoted good choices and reinforced the pillars of character. Everyone took part in “making our school a great place to work and learn.” *Title I parent surveys reflected very positive comments regarding discipline, procedure, family support, and climate. *Good choices were promoted and recognized through our Student of the Month Program, Good Choices are Cool Recognition, and Grade Level Attendance Challenges.
• Student Achievement
By using ongoing student data to guide decision making, teachers designed, differentiated and delivered instruction to meet the needs of each learner. Varied techniques, consistent procedure, and an alignment to the Ohio Core Content Standards characterized daily lessons. Tutors aided in intervening, enriching, and individualizing student learning. Technology was used daily to enhance instruction and to provide students access to test prep tutorial programs. Video conferencing also provided unique opportunities to learn beyond the classroom! *Students’ academic efforts were promoted and recognized through our Preschool Celebration, 3rd-5th Grade Awards Ceremony, Walk for Knowledge, Reading Awards, Mission Math Awards, Art Contests, and Grade Level Performance Challenges.
• Staff Achievement
Weekly TBT planning occurred throughout the year. As a result of our Decision Framework, participation in building-specific professional development increased staff efficacy. Value-Added progress measures and short cycle assessments allowed us to analyze performance and adjust instruction. Focused interventions and enrichments promoted steady and significant gains in the progress of ALL students. Our Building Leadership Team met monthly to share grade level successes and challenges. Shared and individual accountability was a common theme among our staff as we set our goals on guaranteeing each child at least a year’s growth.
• Parent/Teacher Central
Throughout the year, our PTC was busy planning and providing unique student learning opportunities and family activities. Events such as the Fall Carnival, Holiday Celebration, Book Fair, and Spring Carnival were well attended. *PTC funds sponsored a Christmas Movie Outing and various family events. PTC also sponsored grade level activities, student award incentives, field trips, field days, & Market Days throughout the year.
Dedication and commitment are two words synonymous with our staff.
