The annual free sports physical clinic will be held at Vinton County High School on Friday, May 11, 2018 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Students MUST bring the sport physical form (pick up in the office), which has been signed by a parent. Forms filled out in pencil will not be accepted, black or blue ink only please. Color ink will not be accepted. This year we are offeriing additional cardiovascular testing which will be available by appointment only. This service will be provided by Cappo Health for students 12 to 25 years of age the same day as sports physicals, May 11, 2018 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. There are no upfront costs for this testing. Cappo Health will bill your health insurance, accepting what your carrier deems usual and customary. As required by law, Cappo Health will bill for any deductible or co-insurance owed, if applicable. There are a number of circumstances that would waive any balance due for this testing (including saving for college). Please be aware that if you have an HSA, FSA, or HRA account, funds may automatically be deducted if a balance is due. According to the American Heart Association, every 3 days a young athlete dies from Sudden Cardiac Arrest in the US. In 80% of the cases, there are no warning signs or symptoms leading up to a cardiac arrest.Cappo Health will perform EKGs and echocardiograms to detect heart conditions that can put your child at risk and vascular ultrasounds to identify vascular conditions common to athletes (such as blood clots). Tryouts for the High School Cheerleading Squads will be APRIL 8th in the HS gym. The clinic will be from 9am-Noon; break for lunch and tryouts will start @ 1pm. We will only have 1 tryout this year so April 8th will be for both Football and Basketball seasons! Interested? Pick up the Informational packet and consent papers in the MS and HS office beginning April 3rd. Consent must be turned in the day of tryouts. No signed consent form-no tryout. The Viking Wrestlers finished third at the Tri-Valley Conference meet in February. Senior Tim Bunnell (152 pounds) and junior Ray Lewis (182 pounds) were named to the All-Conference Team.Along with both basketball teams winning their TVC-Ohio championships, two VCHS seniors swept Most Valuable Player honors — Cassie Bentley for the All-TVC Girls team and Naylan Yates for the boys. Bentley shared the MVP recognition with senior Jessie Addis of Nelsonville-York.The four Lady Vikings honored are seniors Cassie Bentley, Erin Jones and Darian Radabaugh, along with freshman Morgan Bentley.The four Vikings honored are seniors Naylan Yates, Jake Speakman, Bryce Damron and junior Nevan Yates.Congratulations to Vikings Head Coach Matt Combs, who was once again named TVC-Ohio Coach of the Year!

The Vikings Wrestling team had 11 participate in the sectional tournament this past weekend and 8 of them placed! 4 have guaranteed spots at districts next weekend and 4 are alternates. Congratulations to Tyler Congrove (Sectional Champion), Timmy Bunnell, Mason Hamric and Ray Lewis on your sectional finishes and Good Luck at Districts this weekend, March 2nd and 3rd at Claymont High School!
