The Viking Success Career Program is in full swing during the month of November. At VCHS, students will have multiple opportunities to explore careers that are consistent with their interests, strengths, and values. Every student will be encouraged to explore and evaluate different career options, giving serious consideration to the many in-demand jobs that require 2 years or less education after high school. Students will learn about Ohio’s in-demand jobs and what it takes to succeed in those fields. They will meet experts from those career areas that can guide them in their decision making. Sophomores can opt to visit Buckeye Hills Career Center to find out about training that will help them get a good job right out
of high school. Visits to Hocking College, TriCounty Adult Career Center, and Ohio University will be three of the campus visits that will take place this month (made possible by a grant from General Mills). Every student will use tools on Ohio Means Jobs K12 to further aid the career exploration process. As part of an English assignment, students will also use a personality assessment that links personality types to certain career fields. These are just a few of the many activities being offered at VCHS during November to help our students create their own Viking Success Plan!
