Viking Success Career Awareness Day, November 2, 2018

As a component of the Viking Success Career Program, VCHS held a Career Awareness Day on November 2, 2018. Guest speakers from over 30 career areas offered their expertise to help students in grades 9-12 learn what it takes to succeed in their career field. Reps from a wide variety of career areas were represented, including apprenticeships, jobs that only require short term training, jobs where the employer pays for educational benefits so one can move up in their organization, and the military. Occupations of special interest to some students were also offered, such as physician, attorney, vet, FBI agent, photographer, therapist/ mental health counselor, small business owner, and others were also represented. Many thanks to all the presenters for sharing their time and expertise with our students! It was a great day!

VCHS will host another Viking Success College & Career Fair on November 19. This event will give students a chance to speak with reps from colleges, trade schools, military, employers, apprenticeships, specific in-demand career areas, job search assistance agencies, student clubs, and financial aid.
