VCHS BPA Places in National Competition

BPA National Competition  April 30th through May 5, Mrs. Harper, along with 6 Vinton County High School students attended and completed the Business Professionals of America National Leadership Conference in Anaheim, California. Every student who attended won at least one National Award.
Owen Salyer Placed 2nd in the Nation for Cybersecurity and Digital Forensics. Owen also received the overall award for "Best of Show" for Cybersecurity and Digital Forensics at the student showcase. Owen also earned his Ambassador (national level) Torch Award for an online resume that he completed.

Torie Piatt, Chase Newsome, Bailey Long, Tyler Baer and Joshua Miracle all participated in an Escape Room challenge hosted by Capsim. The students had to work together as a team to answer business related questions to unlock secrets to advance to the next level. The team took 1st place in the Escape Room challenge. Each of these students also earned their Ambassador (national level) Torch Award.

All students took a Microsoft Technology Associate certification exam, and I am proud to announce that Bailey Long and Owen Salyer are now Microsoft Technology Associate Security Fundamentals certified.

It was not all work or the students. All students took a tour of San Juan Capistrano Mission, spent a day at Laguna Beach where we observed the tide pools at low tide and spoke with marine biologists about the creatures living in the tide pools. We also went to an Anaheim Angels baseball game, and spent a day at Disneyland. We also took one afternoon to enjoy the hotel pool and amenities. Overall, we had a fun, but productive and successful trip!
