Healthy Vikings

Our Healthy Vikings Committee met on 7/17/26

We had a great representation - OSU Extension, health dept, counselors, food service, sheriff’s dept, business, and administration.

After introductions and a review of the last meeting, we had a presentation from Nancy Bauer on The Ohio Bereavement Collaborative. This was a Grief & Bereavement Support Group proposal.  

We looked at and discussed the Year End Report from our VCLSD School Nurses.

The following initiatives and opportunities were discussed. 

Viking Bash  - We will be handing out Viking Pride Tablets and FAQs Handouts on cell phones, social media, bullying, and vaping.

The Team Tressel Fitness Challenge and Colgate Toothbrush Kits applications were shared.   

We examined our Wellness Policy and how our committee will work to promote this. We are also seeking parent participants to serve on this committee. We asked for recommendations. 

There was discussion of our Parent Resource Library, which was purchased by our Stronger Connections grant and is available as an important “go-to" on our website. This can be accessed by all.  

We discussed the Alumni Showcase and the great things our VCLSD alumni are doing. We look forward to filling up the trophy cases by encouraging participation in this.

 

We discussed recent happenings and what we can do to support families and make school a priority.  Also, how we can provide information and scrutinize alternative delivery options.   

 

Attendees participated in an activity. 

 

They were provided committee goals -vaping, bullying prevention, social media, physical education, parent/community education 

They developed three objectives per goal and presented out on their topic. 

 

We will be working from these goals and objectives throughout the ‘26-27 school year. 

 

Our next meeting is August 28th at 9:00 a.m. at the district office.
