VCLSD Alternative Delivery Models:
VCLSD strives to offer a robust curriculum within the district buildings, but we realize that may not suit all learner needs; therefore, other delivery models that may be utilized have been outlined below:
Blended Learning
The Board of Education authorizes the operation of a blended learning environment as an educational opportunity for middle or high school students. Blended learning is defined as the delivery of instruction in a combination of time, primarily in a supervised physical location away from home and online delivery where the student has some element of control over time, place, path, or pace of learning and includes non-computer-based learning opportunities. Students participating in blended learning shall have the ability to advance from grade to grade and earn credits by demonstrating proficiency of knowledge or skills where the delivery of instruction occurs half a day in the building on a digital learning platform with a credentialled teacher. Policy 2370.01
Students who are interested in this option must contact their building principal. Certain criteria must be met before enrollment is granted. i.e. failing classes; credit deficiency; smaller class setting; work; special circumstances
At Home Instruction
This model might be utilized by students who have medical issues or situations that keep them from a regular school schedule. Students who may need this must email the superintendent or assistant superintendent to inquire about this option. There is a set criteria before enrollment is approved, i.e.: medical, pregnancy, living situation; work; special circumstances; court-placed. This option is only open to students who live within the district.
Credit Recovery
This model is used for High School students who are credit deficient due to failing classes. Students are placed in virtual courses during classroom periods through the guidance office.
Home Education - AKA “Homeschooling”
Home education is when a parent/guardian constructs and delivers the educational curriculum for his/her child. If you plan to continue homeschooling your child(ren), you must notify the superintendent’s office per ORC 3321.04.
The Homeschool Notification Form must be completed and returned by August 30th each year.
